Since 1979, at Sweetwater Farms, in Brewster, on Cape Cod Massachusetts, the vision/mission of owner Laurie Rylander and her
husband, James has been to breed Quality Appaloosas with  Class, Correctness
Color, Genetic and Physical soundness.  At Sweetwater Farms Laurie Rylander continues
striving to breed Quality
Appaloosas with Correct conformation, Class, Color & Charisma-with Physical & Genetic Soundness a
priority, as has been done at Sweetwater since 1979, with much less technology. The Secret Pardon is a
vividly marked Appaloosa stallion with the spotted coat pattern Appaloosa breeders desire, and is a
Multiple National Champion Halter Stallion, while also being HYPP N/N, a rare highly sought after genetic
attribute few World & National Halter horses possess. The Secret Pardon is owned by Laurie Rylander and
stands at stud with cooled semen shipped in the USA. Frozen Semen is available for export. Sweetwater
Farms, is located in Brewster, Cape Cod, MA.
James and Laurie Rylander co-own Sweetwater Farms, and are the owners of  several Appaloosas, including the colorful Stallion,
The Secret Pardon, HYPP N/N & a reining bred grandson of Breezin' Bull sired by a son of Great Pine, an NRHA Champion.  The
Secret Pardon is a modern, 2008, HYPP N/N, Appaloosa stallion, also a Multiple National Champion Halter Stallion is part of
helping to achieve the goals we strive to
remain dedicated to helping the Appaloosa gene pool, by breeding for
Quality Appaloosa Horses, with Talent, Color, Charisma, Class, and Physical and Genetic Soundness.

Appaloosa Horses are for sale, from show horses suited for Halter, Pleasure, Reining, Trail, Western Riding,
All 'rounders, in ages ranging from prospects to seasoned veterans of the show arena. Broodmares in foal
to The Secret Pardon are also occasionally for sale at Sweetwater Farms, Cape Cod.
Since 1979 at Sweetwater Farms our
vision/mission has been to breed competitive
Quality Appaloosas with Class, Correctness,

The surgery was done at MGH, Boston on September, 11, 2014. It was an epic failure, to say the least. About 2
weeks post-op, the entire thigh turned black & blue swelling & 4 long days were spent in incredibly pain straight-
until the 8" long incision burst open, apparently the result of a growing abscess. My daily battles with my own
body continue & since the surgery I've lost ground.  The ongoing, destruction of the large muscles of my thigh
continue, with horrific disfigurement & constant pain leaving me never knowing what I will be able to wear on
what days. The simple act of dressing-limited to sweats or compression breeches/tights is still almost impossible
    to predict.

To stop having dreams is to stop having hope!  And, personally speaking I still have plenty of dreams, hope, spirit
    and drive!

A special long time dream in the making, is finally coming to fruition.  With a brick & mortar store at Sweetwater
Farms, we may also take some our portable show shop on the road. Based on market needs, as assessed by
experienced horsemen for horsemen, the Grand Re-Opening of The Silver Stirrup Studio for Horse Enthusiasts &
Lovers, and the Equestrian & Riding public is upcoming!

Also, during 2016, Cape Cod Equine LLC will sponsor what we hope competitors & spectators alike will enjoy,
with the events taking place at Sweetwater Farms.

Our love for Appaloosas, combined with a devotion to the Appaloosa has created a drive within us that for the
past 40 years has welcomed horse enthusiasts from all breeds to get spotted on an Appaloosa-doing whatever
you enjoy riding to do!   At Sweetwater Farms we've got you covered!

    Still...life goes on...
        & do so we!
Since the 1970's at Sweetwater Farms, we have offered Quality Appaloosa Horses, with proven pedigrees, correct
physical builds encouraging long-term soundness, and willing mindsets which believe is a combination of assets
that can be geared towards equine excellence in a variety of competitive events-and often for the long haul.

Many Sweetwater horses enjoy unusually long show careers, as Youth & NonPro Horses.  Throughout their show
careers many have always seemed capable of giving a heartfelt competitive effort at whatever a rider would
decide to try, while also remaining sound & happy. Having a pleasant attitude is as essential & important as being
well trained with regard to horses-whether prepping for Nationals or tacking up for trail riding.

At Sweetwater Farms in addition to our Appaloosa horses, stallion services, sales and boarding, we also provide
today's competitors and equine enthusiasts with what's needed to compete successfully in events from local to
the World levels.  From maintaining show rigs, wheel bearings, winterizing, camper repairs-to offering the latest in
Ready to Win show apparel, with some super coordinating tack, & plenty of finishing touches, including some
handy farm & trail riding gear-we've got you covered.

Over the years the needs of the family & farm evolved, bringing about some changes to Sweetwater Farms, not
the least of which was changing from a show farm to a breeding farm. Other exciting happenings was the addition
of The Silver Stirrup Studio as a Show Boutique & Model Horse Shop, perfect for Breyer, Artists Resins, Peter
Stone & other model enthusiasts who show, collect &/or display their models, along with suitable custom made
    dolls, riders, tack and props.

In December of 2002, a severe neuropathy caused by tumors in Laurie's upper thigh putting constant pressure on
the large peripheral sensory nerve that runs from the spinal cord, down the side of the leg was diagnosed. After
having spent 4 spacey years in bed & 10 in a wheelchair, the proposed surgery to cut the tumors was presented
    as the only option left.

The Secret Pardon's 2016 Stud Fee is $1300.
The chute fee is paid to Gumz Farms from the Stud Fee.
We welcome new breeders & horse enthusiasts to the Appaloosa breed!
"Diesel," as The Secret Pardon is known by friends & family, stands at Gumz Farms in Morganfield, KY.
At Gumz Farms, cooled & frozen semen is tested, collected and shipped under the expert, capable guidance of Amy &
Kevin Gumz, Stallion & Breeding Managers of Gumz Farms.
In addition to caring for Diesel as a breeding stallion,  Diesel is also cared for, exercised & turned out to play-as a
"horse" which we believe is an important part of any stallion's life.
THE SECRET PARDON IS A MEDALLION EARNER & A MEDALLION SIRE, which means at least one of his foals has earned a
Medallion as a National High Point Champion, World Champion, &/or National Champion.
Adding to the obvious desirability of THE SECRET PARDON as a breeding stallion is his HYPP N/N status.   Although some
make light of HYPP, not all successful breeders and competitors in halter believe in actions that some consider to be
the creation of designer horses.  Since the mystery of HYPP was unraveled,  many halter horses carrying the gene for
HYPP began to be considered the "ultimate halter horse" since one of the many side effects known to be caused by this
potentially lethal genetic flaw, is a muscle type that appears larger and heavier than the muscles of most horses who do
not carry the gene for HYPP.
Contrary to what some believe, only one copy of the HYPP gene is needed for an HYPP N/H horse to be symptomatic &
appear to be visibly carrying a heavier muscle-but these horses are also susceptible to the Period Paralysis of any
number of muscles that keep the horse alive, and for unpredictable lengths of time which obviously causes the horse to
suffer.  Medications can control the symptoms, but effective medications are typically required for the life of the horse.
THE SECRET PARDON is HYPP N/N, therefor he cannot pass along the gene for HYPP along to his foals   79% color has
been produced from "Diesel's"  foal crops! (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015, 2016 *to date)

The Silver Stirrup Studio
The Silver Stirrup Studio originated in the late 1980's, initially as a workplace & studio for the variety of Custom art,
Equine Portraiture, & other horse related art Laurie Rylander devoted hours to, using a variety of mediums and an
equally vast roster of canvas types to work on.
Since 1979, at Sweetwater Farms, in Brewster, on Cape Cod Massachusetts, the vision/mission of owner Laurie Rylander and
her husband, James has been to breed Quality Appaloosas with  Class, Correctness
